‘Encourage one another and build each other up’
1 Thessalonians 5:11
At Ashley Hill Multi Academy Trust we value music because it is a powerful form of communication that can change and impact the way children feel, think and act. Children gain a firm understanding of what music is through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing across a wide variety of styles, traditions, and musical genres. We are committed to ensuring children understand the value and importance of music in the wider community and are able to use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts. This provides an opportunity for them to develop their confidence and performance skills.
The music curriculum ensures children sing, listen, play, perform and evaluate. This is embedded in the classroom through teaching Music in blocks throughout the year as well as the weekly singing assemblies, various concerts and performances and teaching from specialist music teachers. The elements of music are taught in the classroom lessons so that children are able to use some of the language of music to understand how it is made, played, appreciated and analysed.
Children at Ashley Hill Multi Academy Trust love to sing and create music, and in doing so gain musical skills that they can apply through further education and into adulthood. We love to sing and perform to a high standard at regular venues throughout the school year.
