Weekly bulletin

We have had a fantastic start to the new term!

We got off to a flying start with our new topic, 'Beside the Seaside', during our first two days back at school.  We made sandcastles and explored a range of different shells, whilst sharing tales of some of our own beach experiences during the Summer break.

We were fascinated to discover how different seaside holidays were in the Victorian days, compared to those we have today, and the children were eager to try on some Victorian-style costumes to pretend to go to the beach.

During our workshop, we engaged in plenty of role-play whilst learning just how different life was in the Victorian era.  The day involved role-playing going on a steam train to the seaside for a great Victorian experience!  The children took turns being sales assistants at the 'hook a duck' game, the 'roll a penny' game, the 'fish and chip shop', the souvenir stall, and the funny-face photo frames!  Then it was their turn to play the games whilst Year 1 became the sales assistants.

We've have had a fabulous fun-filled start to this exciting topic, and are looking forward to many more exciting things to come!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
