During Week 2, we began phonics lessons and enjoyed learning how to read and write the first few sounds. We also engaged in many fine motor activities.
In our Maths, our focus has been on matching, sorting and comparing. We did this by exploring the story 'The Button Box' and also sorting buttons ourselves.
In our topic 'All About Me', we thought about our families, and how we have changed since we were babies by creating our own timelines. We also learnt about some games our grandparents might have played, such as hopscotch.
This week in Foundation, we have been getting to know our class environment and all the resources we have to play with. Each day, we were introduced to a new shelf on each of our areas. The areas include maths, creative, investigation, fine motor, writing, role play and book corner. We have learnt where the resources go and different ways we can use them to help our learning.
When we arrive at school each morning, we will have fine motor activities set up and we have been practising using these and then putting them away correctly.
In RE, we learnt about our value for the term which is 'generosity'. Mrs Strong had a bowl full of pom poms, and we discussed how she could share and show generosity to others in the class.
In Maths our focus has been matching, comparing and sorting. We have focussed on the words 'same' and 'different' and were able to group items by looking at their appearance.
In week 3, our focus in maths was on measurement. We explored mass, capacity and time using practical resources.
In our topic 'All About Me', we focused on the 5 senses and our activities included smelling with smell pots, food tasting, listening to sounds and using feely bags to describe how something feels.
